Groups Of Girls Beat Unsuspecting Victim In Brooklyn While Bystanders Cheer, Film Attack

A group of girls in Brooklyn beat an unsuspecting victim while bystanders cheered the attack on, and video of the ruthless assault was later shared on Facebook.

The incident happened in Prospect Park, where a group of girls approached a woman sitting on a bench and began shouting at her. They then started to attack the woman with a barrage of slaps and punches, and proceeded to kick the victim when she fell to the ground.

The attack went on for several seconds with a group of teenagers watching, shouting and even cheering on the attack. It only stopped when a man pulled an attacker of the bloodied and dazed woman, but another attacker gave her one last kick to the face.

Video of the attack was later uploaded to Facebook and quickly went viral. New York media outlet PIX11 posted the disturbing video and a link to the story was one of the most popular posts on Reddit’s news page.

The attack even prompted the National Action Network, the organization founded by Al Sharpton to promote justice and civil rights causes, to hold a press conference.

“We can’t afford for this to happen in our community,” Tony Herbert of the National Action Network said. “What we are asking for is the victim, we are asking her to come forward because we need to get these people off the street. And get them the counseling or whatever it is they need. So they won’t do this to somebody else. They thought it was fun to kick them literally in their face and laugh about it.”

The case was eerily similar to another brutal assault that went viral this week. In Salem, New Jersey, a woman attacked a mother walking with her child and brutally beat her while the toddler attempted to intervene.

Video of the attack showed a group of people walking along a path, but as the fight started none of them moved to intervene and help the woman. Instead the victim’s 2-year-old son was left trying to kick the attacker in an attempt to save his mother.

The alleged attacker, who police say is 25-year-old Latia Harris, is also accused of threatening to kick the young boy, NJ.com reported.

The girls who led the attack in Brooklyn have not been identified, and the New York Police Department has yet to comment on the attack.
