Ari Voukydis: Improv Teacher Gives Hilarious Final Jeopardy Answer

Ari Voukydis knew he wasn’t going to win when it came to the final Jeopardy answer, so the college professor and improv veteran decided to go out in style.

The teacher and improv performer pulled from the quick wit he’s learned on stage, coming up with an answer that has become a viral sensation.

Here was his response to the Final Jeopardy clue: “In 1891, this European said, ‘Perhaps my factories will put an end to war sooner than your congresses.'”

The answer may not have been right, but it was pretty awesome, and it spread very quickly on the internet.

Someone claiming to be in his improv class took a screenshot and shared it on Reddit, where it soon became one of the highest voted posts.

It turns out that Ari Voukydis has plenty of experience for his big Jeopardy moment. He has a fairly active IMDB account, appearing in a number of improv specials.

The contestant is also a member of the improv troupe Uprights Citizens Brigade, which has a profile listing even more accomplishments:

“Ari began performing improv, standup and sketch comedy in New York City back there were hookers in Times Square. He has been a member of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre since 1997 and has been teaching there for over ten years.

“Ari is a regular on all those VH-1 shows your niece watches, like ‘The Best Week Ever ‘and Top 100 Videos, and has also appeared on ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien’ and Comedy Central’s ‘The Upright Citizens Brigade.’

“He has contributed to ‘Saturday Night Live’s’ Weekend Update and has written for GQ, Grantland, SPY, Esquire, Entertainment Weekly and many other magazines. He currently writes for BuzzFeed.”

While he may have come up with a funny Final Jeopardy answer, Ari Voukydis wasn’t alone in being stumped on the answer. Neither of the other contestants knew that it was Alfred Nobel who made the quote.
