Rob Drydek Signs MTV Extension As Network Expands Outreach To Millennials

Rob Drydek has signed a multi-year deal with MTV that will include new seasons of his shows, Fantasy Factory and Ridiculousness, and allow the network to expand its reach to the Millennial generation.

The deal signals an expansion for Drydek’s production company, Super Jacket, and a deepening of the relationship between the former skating pro and MTV. Drydek first came to MTV in 2006 with the series Rob & Big, and for the last eight years has brought new program offerings.

On Thursday, Rob Drydek praised the deal and said he looks forward for what’s to come.

“MTV has a been a great partner over the years,” Dyrdek said of the deal. “I’m truly grateful for the platform they’ve provided for me to create and refine compelling, entertaining media at the highest level. This next chapter will allow myself, Shane Nickerson, and the rest of the Super Jacket team to scale our style of production–inspiring people and making them laugh. We look forward to continually delivering amazing content for years to come.”

For MTV, the deal is meant to expand the appeal to the millennial generation.

“He is a creative force with a unique ability to connect with the audience — whether he is in front of or behind the camera. We are truly thrilled to continue our long and successful relationship with Rob,” said MTV president of programming Susanne Daniels.

Drydek will be bringing new programming soon. In July, the fifth season of the cooking season Snack-Off and fifth season of the viral video series Ridiculousness will debut.

As The Hollywood Reporter noted, Drydek has brought some successful programming to the network:

“Fantasy Factory, which follows Dyrdek and his friends on outrageous adventures, began in 2009 and is entering season seven. Season six averaged 1.5 million viewers and a 1.4 rating among 12-34 on Thursdays. Ridiculousness launched a year later in 2010 and its fourth season was Thursday’s No. 1 original cable series, averaging 1.8 million viewers and a 1.5 rating.”

Terms of the deal between MTV and Rob Drydek were not disclosed.
