‘Hannah Montana’ Actress Emily Osment Talks ‘Young And Hungry’
Hannah Montana actress Emily Osment has a brand new show on ABC Family. However, she doesn’t want anyone to compare it to her stint on the beloved Disney series.
Although Young and Hungry appears on the aforementioned teen-friendly network, this doesn’t mean the sitcom isn’t without a few risqué moments. According to Osment, the show isn’t quite as squeaky clean as Hannah Montana. Considering the actress and her fanbase are getting older, this is probably a good thing.
During her recent chat with MTV News, Emily shared a few details about her latest foray into televised entertainment. Since the show is definitely a bit sexier than some of the stuff found on ABC Family, she said the writers are essentially pushing the limits of what the network can air.
The former Hannah Montana actress explained:
“Whenever our writers write something a little risqué or sexy, it’s never for the effect of it being sexy, it’s always for the effect of it being funny. I think that’s why we can get away with the things that we do; Gabi sleeping with Josh on the first night of work. We get away with that because it’s hilarious, and the way that everything folds out is hysterical.”
Hysterical or not, some Hannah Montana fans might be a little taken aback by the sort of shenanigans found on Young and Hungry. The show, which tells the story of an entrepreneur who hires a “feisty young blogger” to serve as his personal chef, should appeal to those who appreciate Osment’s brand of physical comedy.
She added:
“I’m very excited for this fan base that can hopefully carry over to this and see a real, authentic story about a girl that seems very genuine, and is easy to connect with and easy to relate to.”
During her chat with Wetpaint, Osment said she decided to take a break from TV after wrapping the final episode of Hannah Montana. After graduating from high school, the actress tried her hand at music before enrolling in college. While pursuing an education, she found the time to appear in a handful of motion pictures. However, Emily said she didn’t hesitate to try out for Young and Hungry when the opportunity came around.
The Hannah Montana alum said:
“And when this opportunity to do TV again came up during pilot season, it was definitely a choice i had to make. I sat myself down and was like, ‘OK. I guess we’re back!’ I have that part of my life that I had for so long back, and I get to do this crazy schedule again, and this is something that I really want to be doing right now. I made a really good choice. But I don’t know if you can call anything that I’ve done a break. I’m exhausted!”
