Brazil’s Football Fans Are Terrified Of Mick Jagger And You’ll Love The Reason why

Mick Jagger may have a lot of fans in the world of rock and roll but in the world of football it’s a different story altogether, and here’s why.

Brazilian football fans live in mortal fear of the Rolling Stone, not because they loathe the way Jagger sings.

Neither is it because they are particularly repelled by how Jagger struts around the stage like a pensioner who’s been dragged from a nursing home, pumped full of steroids and commanded by the gods of rock to shake his ‘thang’.

No! The real reason Brazilian football fans are literally terrified of the Jaggermeister is because old big lips has what you might call the King Midas touch in reverse.

Or to put it simply, Mick Jagger has a definite knack of supporting teams in this World Cup who go on to lose in a big way.

In Brazil they call it the curse of the Jagger, and fans of the national team are now praying fervently that the 70-year-old knight of the realm doesn’t pick Brazil to win prior to their match against Chile on Saturday.

Is their any justification for all this nonsensical superstition? Well yes actually. Quite a bit of it.

Europort.com reported that Jagger confidently predicted to 70,000 fans at a concert in Rome last Saturday evening, that four-times World Cup winners Italy would easily dismiss Uruguay and progress to the knockout phase of the tournament.

Except they didn’t. After Suarez and co. sunk their teeth into the boys in blue in a big way, Italy were left feeling less than ‘fangtastic’.

And it doesn’t stop there. Back in May, Jagger barked with undimmed conviction at a Rolling Stones concert in Lisbon that Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal would win the Football World Cup. Say no more.

Mick is often referred to as “pe frio” in the Brazilian media, which loosely translates as “cold foot”. An endearing term to sum up the bad luck Jagger inadvertently curses any team he picks with.

As for Sir Mick’s home team England. Well on June 19, an enthused Jagger took to Twitter and in a moment of contagious euphoria wrote: “Let’s go England! This is the one to win!!”

As we now know, following Jagger’s message of support, England went on to lose quite spectacularly.

The curse of the Jagger apparently has its origins in the last World Cup held in South Africa four years ago.

Brazil fans remember with despair how Jagger turned up to the tournament wearing a Brazil jersey to support the team in their quarter-final clash with the Netherlands. Needless to say, Brazil lost.

Prior to that match, Jagger proudly stood alongside Bill Clinton urging on the U.S. against Ghana. Guess who won!

In the same World Cup, Jagger also maniacally cheered England on as they were ruthlessly crushed by Germany 4-1.

The picture of the Jagger curse does appear to be painting itself and it is one which the supporters of Brazil take deadly serious.

So much so, Brazil fans are praying and urging thatJagger gets behind Lionel Messi and the lads from Argentina and leaves their own team the hell alone.
