Sony acquires inFamous, Sly Cooper dev Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch Productions has been developing PlayStation-exclusive titles since what feels like forever, but the company remained independent while churning out Sly Cooper and inFamous titles. Until now.

Sony announced today that they’ve tied the knot with Sucker Punch by acquiring the developer. This will, of course, cement the developer as PlayStation-exclusive, so don’t be looking forward to any Sucker Punch titles on your console anytime soon, Xbox 360 fans.

“We’ve enjoyed an incredible relationship with Sony that has allowed us to combine our creative design capabilities with their guidance to make some of the best franchises to hit the PlayStation platforms. Equally important, the relationship with SCE has provided us the flexibility and trust to take creative risks and invent new properties,” said Brian Fleming, managing partner, Sucker Punch Productions. “As a part of the Sony Computer Entertainment group we look forward to introducing more innovative content and providing consumers with exciting, new interactive experiences.”

Sucker Punch’s latest title, inFamous 2, released on June 7 with a mostly positive reception. The studio is said to be cooking up an all new title, but there haven’t been any announcements on that front so far.
