Americans Try British McDonald’s Take Of Their American Menu [VIDEO]
BuzzFeed Video released this week a video of their workers, being American of course, trying out the British version of the American food at McDonald’s.
In a related report by The Inquisitr, McDonald’s has had a very interesting year so far. First, they got new competition during breakfast when Taco Bell released their breakfast menu. In an attempt to deter their customers from trying out a waffle taco or A.M. crunchwrap, they offered free coffee for a week. Fortunately, Taco Bell’s breakfast menu hasn’t really impacted their breakfast sales. What may hurt them is their new mascot though, which many people are saying looks “really creepy”.
First, a lot of these foods can be stereotypical and incorrect of the American menu we have at our local McDonald’s. Maybe it has been exaggerated for the “American” effect, but there is a lot of mixing of United States and Canadian tastes. Maybe they mean “North America” as a continent and not just the United States, but that isn’t clarified by BuzzFeed Video.
Some of the foods are just enhanced versions of basic McDonald’s fare, primarily to fit the stereotype or the palette of the British. For example, their egg and cheese McMuffin has two sausages instead of one and they have french fries, though it may be altered in taste. The other foods are taken stereo typically from the United States. I mean, the Memphis Special is this huge sandwich with beef patty, lettuce, cheese, coleslaw, barbecue sauce, and mayo stuffed between a sliced chili-topped bun. Surely that is an exaggeration of flavors. Don’t get me started on the Louisiana Chicken and the Bacon Roll. They didn’t even use American bacon for the Bacon Roll. Instead, they kept it British (British bacon is like Canadian bacon).
Still, it is cool to see how other countries see us, even if its just our food. Nice to know that we’re not the only ones who have an inflated view of other countries right?
