If you ever wondered what generally is going on in the Iraq-Syria civil war and what ISIS is, then this quick animation, less than five minutes, may be of some assistance.

In a related report by The Inquisitr, the situation in Iraq, Syria, and ISIS is getting far more End Times Biblical with every passing day. ISIS has been sweeping across the Islamic World like a plague leaving death and destruction in their wake. Their threat is so dangerous, President Obama has even stepped in to provide military advisers to Iraq. The only troops he ever sent into Iraq were to protect the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Still, ISIS grows more powerful, especially now that they’ve found Saddam Hussein’s hidden chemical weapon stash.

All the above news may be a lot to take in especially with more and more news coming in almost every single day. That is why the YouTube channel Kurzgesagt made the above video. In short, their title is German for “in a nutshell” which is slang for summarizing a topic, solution, or situation. Honestly, they did a very fine job explaining everything as best as they could, but they only hit the general topics that would be of use in a generalized and summarized explanation of what is happening in the Middle East today. They didn’t explain the differences between the Sunnis and the Shiites or who the third faction, the Kurds, are.

Still, it is good they did it because a lot of people didn’t know what was truly happening in Iraq and Syria. All most people see are the mass executions and other atrocities that ISIS has done. They also see on news what the United States is doing about this situation, but that seems to be it. We hope the video above helped clarify some of the basic questions you may have about the war.
