‘DWTS’ Former Co-Host Samantha Harris’ Cancer Has Spread

Sad news to come out of Samantha Harris’ camp. The former Dancing with the Stars co-host, who had a double mastectomy in May, is possibly facing a round of chemo after discovering that her cancer has spread despite undergoing an invasive surgery.

Harris told People magazine about the devastating discovery:

“When I came to in recovery, my surgeon was standing over me with a look of sadness and told me that he had to take out all of my lymph nodes.”

Harris’ initial diagnosis was considered a stroke of luck. Although a previous mammogram said she was a fit bill of health, the TV personality discovered a lump in her right breast when she decided to perform a self-examination. A few months later she visited a breast cancer specialist, which is when she was officially diagnosed with breast cancer. At the time Harris was very open about her diagnosis and called the surgery “grueling.”

Of the first time getting diagnosed Harris said, “It felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. I was sick of feeling the way that I did the days after the diagnosis. I knew I needed to take control. I felt so much calmer.”

Later on she tweeted to her followers to thank them for their support:

Unfortunately taking control with the invasive surgery didn’t work out like she and her doctors had hoped. Although her cancer has spread Harris is optimistic and is counting her blessings. “A few days later I got some good news. Thankfully, only one node was positive. Unfortunately, that usually means chemo.” She continued:

“I am scared by the prospect of chemo, but I know so many inspiring women who have gone through it and, as they told me, ‘rocked it.’ If I need it, I will take a deep breath and readjust my focus.”

Harris, 40, added, “Stay positive. When life deals you lemons, you gotta make lemonade!” Since the news hit that she would be undergoing chemo people have reached to Samantha on Twitter:
