Gwendoline Christie ‘Badly Beaten Up’ For Real In ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 4 Finale

Gwendoline Christie put on her war face and went into battle for the Game Of Thrones Season 4 finale, but despite the stunt team doing its best to protect the actors and actresses, she still managed to be “badly beaten up” in the process.

In a related report by The Inquisitr, if you look at any Gwendoline Christie photos when she’s not wearing the gear and makeup for Brienne of Tarth, then you might be surprised to see that the actress looks nothing at all like her character.

When Gwendoline went to battle, she was taking on The Hound, who is played by actor Rory McCann. Although everyone trained for six weeks to prepare for the mock battle, she says the experience left her wounded:

“Rory McCann is an amazing actor and a very strong man. And that was a challenge — not just as actors, but as characters. It’s a f–king really intense challenge…. We filmed it—three days in Iceland and it’s the biggest hardest fight I’ve ever done. It was on the rocks with swords and fists and we both came out unscathed, but it was one of the f–king hardest things I’ve ever done in my life. My hands were like tramps feet — like swollen. They looked after me, they always do, but inevitably things happen. We were fighting up hills, down hills, rolling, fighting on rock face with a sheer down drop.”

She says that filming the Game Of Thrones Season 4 finale caused “something primal” to be “awakened in both of us.” So perhaps it’s no surprise that she was “badly beaten up” since she reveals how the filming went:

“Rory and I were quite serious about it. We are two people that really go for it in that situation. That is one of the few times I’ve not had to do any acting. I was screaming ‘F**k you! Come on!’ Blood everywhere, going insane. It is f**king mental. I actually lost it at points and would just go in screaming.”

Besides Game Of Thrones, Gwendoline Christie is being cast in a role in the upcoming Star Wars 7 and she’s also Commander Lyme in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.
