Gwendoline Christie, better known as Brienne of Tarth on HBO's smash hit Game of Thrones, rocked a different kind of armor at the 2014 Fragrance Foundation Awards on Monday night.
Christie sported a stylish pink flamingo dress as she strutted the red carpet in New York City with a dazzling hair cut that accentuated her overpowering beauty. Gwendoline's appearance also marked a stark contrast from the rough-and-tumble character Game of Thrones fans have come to know and love since season three.
In fact, since being cast in the upcoming Star Wars film along with Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o, Christie has seemed to make it a point to show off a more feminine side to herself. Perez Hilton noted the fact that Gwendoline is "going to be on a lot of red carpets in 2014," which could account for amping up her style quotient when out in public as of late.
Christie, meanwhile, spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the Game of Thrones finale which aired this past Sunday. More specifically Gwendoline talked about the bruising battle between her character and The Hound, played by actor Rory McCann:
"Rory McCann is an amazing actor and a very strong man," Christie described to EW. "And that was a challenge — not just as actors, but as characters. It's a f–king really intense challenge."
She also called her fight with The Hound, "one of the f–king hardest things I've ever done in my life." Christie elaborated:
"We filmed it—three days in Iceland and it's the biggest hardest fight I've ever done. It was on the rocks with swords and fists and we both came out unscathed, but it was one of the f–king hardest things I've ever done in my life. My hands were like tramps feet — like swollen. They looked after me, they always do, but inevitably things happen. We were fighting up hills, down hills, rolling, fighting on rock face with a sheer down drop."Game of Thrones meanwhile, retreats to hiatus until the fifth season premiere next year. But don't fret, there is plenty more Gwendoline Christie on the horizon for 2014. As previously mentioned, the British star been cast alongside Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o in the upcoming Star Wars reboot. She will also take part in the final two installments of The Hunger Games.
And while there is little doubt her brutish portrayal of Brienne of Tarth may have won her these new roles, it's Gwendoline Christie's red carpet appearances that really have heads turning!
