Harrison Ford Injury Update: Star Wars 7 Delayed And Robert Pattinson Cast In Han Solo Movie?

Will the Harrison Ford injury cause the filming of Star Wars 7 to be delayed? That possibility may worry some fans but the real diehards will be outraged at the idea that Twilight‘s Robert Pattinson may be cast in the lead role in the Han Solo movie. But there may be even a bigger shock ahead if some rumors are to be believed…

In a related report by The Inquisitr, when Harrison was injured on the Star Wars 7, set there was a lot of speculation over what this might mean in the long run. When the hydraulic door from the Millennium Falcon fell on his ankle, the damage was so bad that he had to be airlifted to a hospital and they had to install plates and screws. While everyone is hoping the actor will make a full recovery, it is always possible the Han Solo actor may be hobbled by the injury, and even future action movies may not be feasible for the star. Whatever the case, he’s been a good sport about the whole thing on Twitter:

Now it has come out that Harrison Ford’s injury was bad enough that he will need at least six to eight weeks in order to recover. The good news is that sources from the set are claiming that a Star Wars 7 delay is avoidable:

“The initial day or two after the accident it was hard to move things around but now we have had more time we can juggle things, bring some scenes forward and push others back. There are lots of other actors in the movie so it is not a disaster. We are still confident the film can stay on schedule. At the moment it looks like Harrison is going to be off set for 6-8 weeks but the main priority is making sure he is OK.”

The reason this is possible is because movies are not filmed in the sequence we see them in their final form. Scenes are often filmed completely out of sequence, so it is just a matter of juggling schedules in order to keep things moving smoothly. There’s also talk of J.J. Abrams using CGI effects and body doubles to make up the difference. This is actually a similar problem faced in the filming of Fast and Furious 7, because Paul Walker did film some scenes before his untimely death. Likewise, the issue is being resolved with CGI effects and Cody Walker acting as a body double for his brother (although it’s rumored that some people wish CGI could be used for Vin Diesel because of on-set tantrums).

At this point, I will say the following may include spoilers, although I will add that this is pure speculation combined with rumors. So take that as you will…

The first rumor is that a Han Solo movie will be one of the three Star Wars 7 spinoffs planned for the coming years, including a Boba Fett movie and a Red Five movie. Based upon the rumored title being merely “Solo,” and the fact that Harrison Ford would like to see the Han Solo character die, it is possible that Star Wars 7 will have Ford die in the first or second movie of the new trilogy. So that means Harrison Ford’s injury should not slow things down if that is true.

But if the Han Solo movie instead focuses on the earlier career of a young Corellian smuggler, then the other rumor is that Robert Pattinson will make the Millennium Falcon glitter when it jumps to light speed. Sounds a lot like Ben Affleck as Batman, right? Although this rumor is far from concrete, it’s claimed that when asked Pattinson gave “a typical actor’s wishy-washy response, which usually means that he has discussed the part with TPTB; however, nothing is official so he can’t announce it yet.”

What would you think if Star Wars 7 had Harrison Ford die… or if Disney casts Robert Pattinson in the Han Solo movie?
