George Clooney Plays Basketball With Prom Date’s Son, Confirms Status As Bona-Fide Nice Guy

George Clooney has once again proved that he is one of Hollywood’s bona-fide good guys after he played basketball with his prom date’s son during a recent trip to his hometown of Augusta, Kentucky.

The 53-year-old returned to check out his old haunts, even popping in on some of his old high school friends before he then invited his prom date’s son to play basketball with him at his old school, 35 years after graduating.

It’s believed that Clooney developed the idea to play with Brent Bach after he learned of his good work with the school’s current team.

Brent’s mother, Laurie Laycock Bach, has since recalled the story over Facebook, confirming that George, who has remained in contact with Brent’s father since he graduated back in 1979, was in Augusta last week.

Laurie wrote on Facebook, “Guess who just called me and asked if Brent could come to St. Augustine school and play basketball? My old friend George Clooney. He said he had kept up with Brent’s basketball and was very proud of him and wanted to play him a game. Still the same old George!!”

She then added, “It was nice that he called to say hello and to talk about Brent. He said he was going to keep up with his college games too.”

Brent and George are believed to have been shooting hoops throughout the afternoon before George then headed off to a family reunion.

Clooney’s new BFF has even been discussing his time with the actor/director/entrepreneur/activist/humanitarian/all round nice guy with E!, explaining, “He is really down-to-earth and he is really nice. Being a big movie star, when he comes back to the town where he grew up, he treats us all the same and we treat him like he is just an ordinary guy and I think that is what he likes about coming here.”

Brent added, “Even though we don’t get to talk as much, he is a good guy and he tries to keep in touch whenever he is in town. He is a regular guy and I’m really thankful that I got to meet him.”

So, what pearls of wisdom did George pass down to Brent?

“He told me he was proud of everything that I had done [for the basketball team]… He told me to keep trying to do everything well and keep chasing my dreams. He patted me on the back and then ran up the road,” the 18-year-old admitted

It’s safe to say that Brent had George beat on the court though, as he is Augusta’s all-time leading scorer with 2,615 points, and he recently confirmed that he will play for the Bellarmine University Knights in Louisville.

Brent still praised Clooney’s ability though, declaring, “He had a pretty good-looking shot, but he didn’t play one on one or anything.”
