‘Dracula Untold’ First Posters Revealed, Show Luke Evans As Vlad The Impaler

Dracula Untold has two brand new posters with actor Luke Evans as Vlad the Impaler, who would go on to become the Prince of Darkness. The first dramatic shot shows Evans standing atop a cliff, looking over his domain.

This is a new take on the classic vampire tale that we know very well. Universal is focusing on how Prince Vlad, played by Luke Evans, turns into one of the darkest characters in literature.

Not much has been explored by movies in regards to how the Prince of Darkness came to be. In Dracula Untold, we will find out what drove this otherwise peaceful man to turn into a violent, blood sucking, tortured soul.

Interestingly, Universal goes back to its roots in the horror genre with Dracula Untold. The studio was well known for bringing to life some of the most frightening films and iconic characters of the big screen.

Luke Evans comes to the production — his first leading role — with an interesting collection of movies to his name. He c0-starred in such films as The Raven, Fast & Furious 7, and most recently, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug.

The 35-year-old actor, who was also a singer with a successful theater career in London’s West End in his earlier years, has become one of the most popular leading men in recent years. Luke Evans shared the exciting news of the first image of Dracula Untold on Twitter:

Fans couldn’t be more excited about seeing Luke in this role, not only his first starring role, but one of the most iconic in movies. The second shot gives some hints as to what we can expect from this dark story.

We see Vlad standing over a mass of dead bodies with a menacing look on his face. For Dracula Untold, Luke Evans wears heavy, dark armor with hints of red.

The film is based on Bram Stoker’s 1897 Gothic novel, Dracula, with a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharples, and directed by Gary Shore. Also starring are Dominic Cooper, Sarah Gadon, William Houston, Samantha Barks, and Ferdinand Kingsley.

Dracula Untold was shot, on location, in Northern Ireland, from August to November of 2013. It is scheduled to open in the US on October 17, 2014.

Here is the second poster released on Monday.
