Fox News Is America’s Most Trusted News Source [Poll]
For years, Fox News has claimed to be “fair and balanced,” much to the disagreement of other news sources like CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report.
They’ve even taken a great deal of targeted criticism from the Obama administration and the President himself.
A frequent target of mockery in what Sarah Palin would call the “lame-stream media,” the news channel just came out on top in a poll that should leave critics fuming.
They are, according to Brookings, the most trusted news source in America.
The Week reports that inside a surveyon immigration “are a few questions about the integrity of television news.”
When you drill down deeper into the findings, you discover that 25 percent of respondents claimed to trust Fox News more than any other TV news source for “accurate information about politics and current events.”
The network had a slight edge over generic network news and also demolished MSNBC and The Daily Show, which were ranked last and next to last, respectively.
(MSNBC captured just five percent support, while TDS did almost as badly.)
As quick as those on the Left side of politics are to dismiss the findings, the Brookings survey is hardly alone in its conclusions.
Public Policy Polling has also conducted more in-depth studies of which news outlets Americans trust the most, and for five consecutive years, Fox News has come out on top.
In the latest PPP survey, released January 30, 2014, the news channel proved to be the most trusted news source with 35 percent support compared to 14 percent for PBS, 11 percent for ABC, 10 percent for CNN, 9 percent for CBS, 6 percent each for Comedy Central and MSNBC, and 3 percent for NBC.

It leads the way because of its continuing near total support among Republicans as the place to go for news- 69% of Republicans say it’s their most trusted source with nothing else polling above 7%. Meanwhile Democrats are split between a lot of different outlets when it comes to who they have the most faith in- PBS at 21%, CNN and ABC at 18%, and CBS and MSNBC at 12% all poll in double digits. It’s interesting that while Fox News and MSNBC are often thought of as equivalent, Fox News is by far and away the most trusted source of GOP voters while MSNBC is only tied for 4th among Democrats.
