Avatar Kinect out now on Xbox Live

If you’re the type of person who prefers chatting with your friends in digital space rather than your standard face-to-face meetup, you and your pals will probably get a kick out of Avatar Kinect, out now on Xbox Live. If not, well, I suppose this isn’t for you.

Announced back at E3 last month, Avatar Kinect lets you chat with your friends over Xbox Live in several different themed sets. The idea, as Microsoft put it at E3, was to create a digital space for people to hang out and shoot the breeze or, if they were so inclined, host their own “TV show”.

Perhaps the most interesting feature of Avatar Kinect shown off at E3 was the new facial recognition features. If you frown in front of your Kinect sensor, so too will your Avatar. The same goes for smiling, raising your eyebrows, and so on.

If that sounds like your cup of tea, you can queue it up to download over on Xbox Live at this link free of charge. Alternatively, you can access it through Kinect Fun Labs through the “My Gadgets” section.
