Fashion and music standout Lady Gaga proved that even when she’s napping on a day off, she’s not too far from Instagram to take a selfie – and a striking selfie at that.
Last Thursday, that selfie found Gaga in bed, plain white sheet wrapped around her shoulders, blonde hair tied back – and makeup free skin.
The caption? “Day off sleepy girl.” She may have been sleepy, but her clear-eyed gaze made her appear fresh-faced and healthy. Only the hint of a dark shade under one eye implied she was in the market for some rest.
It’s not the first time Gaga has been snapped without makeup. But this pose conveyed a sense of vulnerability for the woman known as much for her style as her music. Glamour UK gushed its approval:
[W]e had to double check that it was her. Actually, we had to triple check…We think it’s refreshing to see Lady G’s ‘I woke up like this’ face – keep ’em coming please.
Interestingly, the New York native looked more becoming in this pared-down shot than she has on the cover of countless fashion magazines.
Gaga’s stripped-down look is not a new trend for the singer, however. She was quick to make that clear by going about her business decked out in a couple of unique ensembles. The singer stepped out in New York in a massive dark curly wig and fishnet stockings. She also treated her Instagram followers to another picture of that mane of hair on Thursday, this time identifying her gold outfit as being from the Dolce and Gabbana archive.
Lady Gaga is currently on break from her ArtRave: The ArtPop Ball world tour. Although Gaga cancelled stops in Seattle and Vancouver at the end of May due to bronchitis, she was up and about soon after. Last Tuesday she tweeted a pic of herself and her surfing buddy, her dog Asia, whom she playfully referred to as her “Piggy”:
Me and my Piggy went surfing this morning http://t.co/54MTqK1eq1

Lady Gaga fans who missed out on May shows are in luck. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the shows in Seattle and Vancouver have been rescheduled for August. Denying reports the tour was not a success, Live Nation rep Arthur Fogel told Billboard in March that ticket sales at that time were already at 80 percent of capacity. Gaga is set to resume her touring schedule in Milwaukee on June 26.
