Zac Efron Once Sought The Wisdom of Dennis Quaid

Zac Efron isn’t above getting some advice from his elders.

The Neighbors star wants to make sure his career stays on the most successful track. Whenever he stumbles across someone who can help steer him in the right direction, Efron pops open their skull and picks through their brain. Figuratively, of course.

According to Entertainmentwise, Zac once sought some advice from Frequency star Dennis Quaid. While some of Efron’s critics have chided him for making several different kinds of movies over the years, Quaid seemed to think shaking things up was essential to a healthy and fruitful cinematic career.

“I’ve always wanted to do as many different things as possible. I once did a movie with Dennis Quaid and I asked him, ‘If you could go back to your younger self, what would you say?'” Efron recently explained.

He added, “He said, ‘Just keep doing different kinds of movies and always change it up’, so that’s what I try and do.”

The High School Musical graduate is definitely taking Quaid’s advice these days. He recently starred in two comedies (That Awkward Moment, Neighbors), has a legal thriller on the horizon (The Associate), and is reportedly in talks with Marvel Studios for an undisclosed project. Judging from that lineup, Efron has absolutely no problem keeping his filmography as diverse as humanly possible.

Quaid isn’t the only person who gave Zac Efron some friendly tips. The Inquisitr previously reported that the actor recently reached out to the likes of Tom Cruise for a little assistance. Unfortunately, Efron decided to keep that sage advice under wraps. Apparently the Mission: Impossible star’s wisdom isn’t worthy of the masses’ consumption.

“I won’t talk specifically about those conversations but I think they were pretty candid and common sense driven. You have to be aware—and I am—of who you are and what you bring to the table and even more importantly how you are perceived,” Zac explained to news.au.com earlier this year.

He continued, “You really have to take into account what your place is, how you can shape that to what you want it to be in the future and what the steps are to get there.”

Unfortunately for Zac Efron fans, the actor won’t appear on the big screen again until next year. That’s when director Adrian Lyne’s The Associate should hit theaters. Sadly, we don’t have a release date to share with our readers as of this writing.
