Lea Michele has packed it all into her new book. The Glee star gives it her all – make up tips, celebrity encounters, friendships, breakups, and her exercise routine.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, there’s also a little tidbit about how Lea drank alcohol as a toddler.
The publisher’s official write-up for Brunette Ambition bills the book as “the book Lea wishes she’d had in her teens and early twenties: A practical and inspirational guide to harnessing tenacity and passion and living the fullest life, no matter what obstacles life puts in your way.”
And her writing has an audience. Wetpaint reported Friday Lea Michele’s entry into the literary world is number 3 on The New York Times’ best seller list.
Apparently, Michele has quite a bit of advice to give at the tender age of 27. The Bronx native has been a Broadway actress since the age of 8, when she had a turn in Les Miserables. The following year she starred in Ragtime, with Broadway heavyweight and future Private Practice star Audra McDonald.
It was Audra who gave Lea Michele some key acting and lifestyle tips, according to Playbill’s overview of Brunette Ambition.’ McDonald taught Lea how to breathe, maintain her vocal health, and — good tips for everyday people and performers alike — the importance of drinking tea, water, and staying away from cigarettes.
Michele gushes about idol Barbra Streisand in the book, detailing her chance encounter with the music icon at the Grammy Awards. Streisand tapped Lea on the shoulder and asked if she’d sounded good on stage that night. Michele talks about her nervousness around Streisand, even passing on the chance to see her backstage at an event.
Lea also talks about her more well-known celebrity encounters. She mentions former flame and Glee co-star Cory Monteith at the end of the book and the beginning. Michele’s kept her character’s “Finn” necklace from Glee and shoes that Cory bought for her.
She is also not shy about discussing her former relationship with Matthew Morrison, whom she knew before Glee — as he was a fellow Broadway actor. As for the identity of the tough breakup she was going through before she got her breakthrough television role, Lea is mum.
It doesn’t end there. Lea, a vegetarian, also reveals her favorite recipes and food shopping tips. She talks about her struggles with acne and is open about her beauty routine. In a series of pictures, Lea shows off her go-to exercises to stay fit.
She also gives a telling anecdote for the high personal price of red carpet fashion. After falling ill at the 2011 People’s Choice Awards, her cousin weighed the stunning Marchesa gown she’d been wearing. It clocked in at an amazing 20 pounds.
Fashion challenges included, if her past is any indication Lea Michele will have plenty of material for her next autobiography.
