Maya Rudolph Gives Birth to Baby Boy

Saturday Night Live alumnus Maya Rudolph has given birth to a baby boy.

Son Jack was born on July 3rd, and he joins sisters Pearl, 5, and Lucille, 2. Rudolph and husband Paul Thomas Anderson did not find out the baby boy’s gender prior to his arrival, opting to find out the old fashioned way, even with their third child. On Late Night With David Letterman, the comedienne said of gender surprises:

“Because when you’re ready to throw in the towel and you’ve got nothing positive to think about or feel because you’re so heavy and you want to float in a pool of salt water to be buoyant, it was nice to have something to look forward to.”

Before Jack’s birth, Rudolph joked on SNL about advice for her possible daughter. She said:

“Baby, thank you for my ginormous temporary tatas. I promise to work ’em in bikini tops until the moment you are born… Promise me, baby, that if you’re a lady don’t move in with Charlie Sheen. Or whoever is Charlie Sheen at that future time.”

In the fall, Rudolph will appear in a new NBC show about parenthood, aptly titled Up All Night.
