Kendrick Lamar isn’t sitting around counting stacks of money these days. According to people in the know, he’s busy putting together his next studio album.
We know what you’re thinking: didn’t a hip-hop website recently get raked across the virtual coals for spitting false info about Lamar’s next endeavor? That’s certainly true, though this particular slice of internet gossip doesn’t carry nearly as many specifics as the last batch of rumors. In fact, it’s pretty vague all the way around.
Although it’s no secret that Kendrick Lamar will eventually release a follow-up to his platinum-selling album Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, no one seems to know when it’s going to drop. However, the folks at All Hip Hop reportedly spoke to someone who claims Lamar is putting together material for the record at this very moment.
Here’s what the website had to say on the matter:
“I am hearing that he’s also super hard at work on his new album. From what I hear, they are looking for a fall or fourth quarter release. The word is Kendrick is cooking up another classic solo album and putting a whole lot of work into avoiding that sophomore slump that plagues a lot of artists.”
Before you start spinning around in your desk chair while misquoting lyrics from “B***h Don’t Kill My Vibe,” it’s worth noting that recent Kendrick Lamar-oriented rumors have seriously missed the mark. The Inquisitr previously reported that rumors regarding his latest album and its alleged release date were completely false.
Although the reports definitely irritated the boys and girls at Top Dawg Entertainment, president Terrence “Punch” Henderson told XXL that he isn’t spending too much time getting bent out of shape about it. In fact, he decided to put a positive spin on all the rumors surrounding Kendrick Lamar and his next endeavor.
“I don’t know where that came from. It’s crazy. I mean, everybody got access to Photoshop and they can do they thing. Do whatever they want,” the TDE president explained.
Henderson added, “I just look at is as a positive. It builds anticipation. You know what I mean? If you’re not getting those types of things, the album not getting leaked and all of that, it shows that there’s no anticipation.”
Although we don’t have too many details about Kendrick Lamar’s new album to share with the masses as of this writing, rest assured that you’ll know more about it as the project progresses. After all, chances are the rapper wants you to buy the record once it’s finished.
