Carrie Underwood: With New Album On The Way, Country Star Headed For Breakout Year

Carrie Underwood has been having a great year, and with a much-anticipated new album on the way, it could be getting even better.

The American Idol winner has long held a place in the forefront of country music, but, within the last year, she’s taken strides toward a breakout as not only one of the biggest stars in the genre, but in all of entertainment.

Her stretch includes the lead role in The Sound of Music Live! last year and a spot on the Maxim Hot 100 List.

Now Carrie is preparing to put out much-anticipated new music, debuting the song “Keep Us Safe” last week during the two-hour CBS special ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute to the Troops.

“When we were approached to be a part of the show, I was so excited to do something to honor our troops and because ACM Lifting Lives does such great work,” Underwood said in a press release. “I wanted to take the time to really think about what song I wanted to perform. I had a writing session scheduled with my co-writers and friends Hillary Lindsey, Luke Laird, and Shane McAnally, and I guess the show was weighing on my mind. I think we all left the session knowing the song was special because it basically wrote itself that day!”

The “Blown Away” singer said a full album is coming soon as well.

“I am already. It’s been long enough,” she said of working on the as-yet-untitled album. “I’m ready. It’s going really well. We still have a bit to go, but hopefully I’ll get in the studio here pretty soon.”

Carrie Underwood’s luck got even better last week thanks to fellow country star Miranda Lambert. After the two country stars debuted their duet “Something Bad” at the Billboard Music Awards, Lambert offered what appears to be a thank-you gift — a giant motorcycle.

Carrie posted a picture of herself posing on the motorcycle, which looked so large that she barely fit on top of it.

Carrie Underwood hasn’t said when her new album is coming out, but said she’s “feeling pretty good” about the way it’s coming together.
