Floyd Mayweather Jr.: Fight Sparked By T.I.’s Jealousy, Boxer Apologizes To Rapper’s Wife

Floyd Mayweather Jr., the world’s pound-for-pound boxing king, got into a fight with rapper T.I. on Saturday night in a Las Vegas Fatburger, and now the boxing champ has apologized — but not to the hip-hop star. Instead Mayweather offered a mea culpa to Tameka “Tiny” Harris — wife of the rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris.

In video of an altercation in a Vegas casino, before the Fatburger fight, Floyd Mayweather can be heard yelling “Control your b****!” at T.I., words that the five-division champ, who on May 4 survived a scare from Argentine puncher Marcos Maidana, now says he regrets.

“Only person I wanna apologize towards is Tiny,” Mayweather told the hip-hop blog Necole Bitchie. “I said something like ‘control your b****,’ and I don’t want to say that about Tiny. So I do apologize to Tiny because she cool people, man. She cool. She never been disrespectful to me.”

Mayweather told the blog that T.I. has been jealous of his wife’s friendship with Mayweather for some time, first approaching the boxer about it at a jewelry store in New York.

“We went outside to talk,” said Floyd Mayweather. “But he talked about, basically, ‘these girls tryna play us against each other.’ I said, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about.'”

Mayweather flatly denied any “inappropriate” relationship between himself and Tiny Harris, saying that he would never have sexual relations with a marred woman because, “I’m becoming a better person.”

After the altercation in the casino, Mayweather explained, he was enjoying a fast food meal at a Fatburger restaurant when T.I. accosted him again. Mayweather said that T.I. would not back off even when Floyd tried to remind him that he was a professional fighter.

“I’m eating at Fatburger and next thing you know, he walk in talking about we need to talk again. And then I told him, ‘You need to get the f*** outta my face. That’s what you better do,'” Mayweather said. “I said, ‘Listen, don’t come to my face with no disrespectful s***. Like I told you before, you must’ve forgot what I did for a living.’ He said, ‘You do in the ring, I do it in the streets.’ I said, ‘My man, I do it everywhere. You can find out if you want to.’ Just like that.”

T.I. has so far offered no public comment on his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr., in which chairs were thrown and one Fatburger employee was slightly injured.
