Ted Danson Joins ‘CSI’ Cast, Replaces Laurence Fishburne

It’s a far cry from running a bar on the sitcom Cheers, but this fall Ted Danson will join the cast of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, replacing Laurence Fishburne, who recently decided not to renew his contract for the CBS show entering its 12th season.

Danson, 63, a multiple Emmy and Golden Globe award winner, will take on the role of the new supervisor of the CSI unit’s graveyard shift.

“He comes to the team as they continue to grapple with the professional and personal fallout from last season’s take-down of serial killer, Nate Haskell,” explained a CBS press release.

CSI Executive producer Don McGill claims he knew Danson would be a perfect fit for the show as soon as his name was mentioned.

“From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn’t be more perfect. Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all. And now he’ll have to bring latex gloves, too,” said McGill.

In addition to his exciting new role on CSI, Danson will continue his work as a series regular on HBO’s Bored to Death.

Season 12 of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation begins September 21st on its new day and time, Wednesdays at 10pm.

Will you be tuning in for the new season? Do you still think there’s a chance Grissom will return to the show?
