These Dogs Were In The Pound For Months — This Is The Moment They Start New Lives

Who says dogs don’t have emotions, the way humans do? Take a look at these 20 dogs and you know exactly what each one is feeling. Because this is the biggest moment in each of these lovable pups’ lives. This is the moment they each start a new life.

These pictures were taken of dogs that had been kept in the city of Chicago’s Animal Care and Control facilities for weeks. Some were there months, just waiting for that special person or family to come and save them. And some, well, the clock was running out. They were rescued just days away from being euthanized.

According to the Humane Society of the States, between 6 million and 8 million dogs and cats are turned in to animal shelters every year. Of those, about half never make it out. After a certain period of time without finding a home, shelters make room for new dogs and cats by putting down the animals they have residing there.

But these happy dogs were spared that heartbreaking fate. These photos were each taken just moments after the dogs got into the car with their new human companions.

This girl’s name is Peach. She suffers from a bad case of mange, but here she is on her way to a new home where she’ll be taken care of. It’s as if her new life is so close, she can smell it.
