The First Lady of Star Trek Majel Roddenberry Dead at 76


Majel Roddenberry, the widow of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and the voice of the USS Enterprise died early Thursday in her Bel Air, California home.

Roddenberry passed away in her sleep after a long fight with leukemia, aged 76.

Known as the First Lady of Star Trek, Roddenberry played Nurse Chapel on the original Star Trek television series and was the voice of the Enterprise’s computer in the series, and movies, including J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Trek movie. She also played the recurring role of Lwaxana Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Her resume also included appearances on “Leave it to Beaver,” “Bonanza,” “The Untouchables” and “The Lucy Show,” and she was executive producer for two TV science fiction series, “Andromeda” and “Earth: Final Conflict.”
