‘Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition’ Release Date, Further Details Revealed

The Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition is on its way this Fall for all major consoles except for the Wii U. Nintendo gamers will have to get their MMO fix elsewhere, but Wii U owners are used to that by now.

The third in the series of Blizzard’s epic linear RPGs might draw you in with its “evil” overtones, but it keeps you around with its never-ending quest for the most powerful armor and weapons with which to take on Diablo himself and his Hell-spawned minions. Not for the faint of heart, Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls focuses on a hero’s journey through Hell to take down creatures threatening to destroy humanity, beginning with Sanctuary.

Deckard Cain and his niece Leah are looking through ancient texts when a star falls from the sky and leaves a crater in the Tristram Cathedral, taking Cain with it. At this point, it is up to a collection of heroes including a Witch Doctor, a Barbarian, a Wizard, a Monk, a Demon Hunter, and a Crusader (or a combination of up to four of any of them in Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition) to investigate and end the new threat to existence.

As before, Blizzard‘s MMO randomizes what you find, so you really have to search and fight constantly to find armor or weapons that could be better than what you have already. Sadly, with the Auction House having been removed due to hackers and cheaters, there is no way to sell your findings or buy those of others, so all purchases happen at in-game shops. In this edition, however, you can “mail” items to other members of your party or even gift them with rare items.

Blizzard takes cheating seriously and will not hesitate to kick you off their servers if you’re caught. Honest gamers will take that as good news, meaning there won’t be any shenanigans using armor and weapon sets that shouldn’t exist.

For the Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition, lower level members of the party won’t have to be left behind anymore as the game will temporarily upgrade them to match their team in Apprentice mode. Don’t worry about having to start over just because it’s a new version, either. Blizzard has added the ability to transfer your saves from older to newer consoles as long as it’s the same manufacturer. Xbox 360 saves won’t work on the PlayStation 4, nor will PS3 saves work on the Xbone.

The Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition release date is set for August 19, so would-be hunters of the infamous Diablo now have something new to look forward to.
