Rita Ora Isn’t In A ‘Bad Place,’ Doesn’t Want To Record ‘Tear-Jerking Anthems’

Rita Ora is living the good life at the moment. As such, she doesn’t plan to pen anything weepy, sappy, or depressing anytime soon.

Since the “I Will Never Let You Down” singer doesn’t want to come across as disingenuous, Ora revealed that recording tunes that will make everyone shed a tear doesn’t interest her in the least. Instead, she’s more interested in creating music that will get people off their behinds and on the dance floor.

During her chat with MTV News, Rita Ora discussed the sort of stuff people can expect from her latest collection of tunes. Although Ora’s boyfriend Calvin Harris helped out with four tracks on the album, she insisted that it’s not a Sonny and Cher kind of situation. She also opened up about the upbeat nature of the songs.

“Remember that vibe that Whitney [Houston] gave you with ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody?’ It’s kind of like you release that energy almost, it’s that ’80s synth mix. I’m in a great place at the moment. I’m not trying to make any tear-jerking anthems. I’m not in a bad place,” Ora explained.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star also revealed that she’d love to collaborate with No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani in the studio at some point in the near future. According to Ora, she’s one of the hottest moms on the entire planet.

“There’s been talks and there’s been things, but she’s just had an amazing baby, obviously real life hits, but we will figure it out. It’s all about the timing, but the song is there, I’m just really kind of waiting for her to just be like ‘boom,’ but we don’t force things like that. They just happen,” the singer explained.

In addition hitting the recording studio, Rita Ora recently spent some time on the set of the upcoming adaptation of E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey. Although she couldn’t cough up too many juicy details about the film, Ora teased that there’s definitely some sexy moments heading to the big screen next year.

“I can’t give too much away because I’m sworn to secrecy by a whole army of ‘Fifty Shades’ people, but I can say there’s a really spicy scene. All I’m saying is that it’s surprising, you can feel it in the air like when you rub your fingers,” she said.

Rita Ora’s first proper Stateside release is scheduled to arrive later this year.
