Anti-Gay Demonstrater Gets Slushie Thrown At Her

Anti-gay demonstrator and activist Christine Weick used Mother’s Day to promote her views in Grandville, Michigan and had a slushie thrown at her by a young woman who disagreed with her.

Weick was holding a sign that read “Thank your mom today for not being gay.” A man next to her held a sign that said “Thank your mom if you’re not a bigot! ‘Judge not…'”

Local NBC affiliate WOOD in Grand Rapids received a tip about the demonstration and sent a photo journalist to report it. As their camera was rolling, Jessica Prince approached Weick and threw a slushie at her.

WOOD TV reported the two women engaged in a confrontation. Prince was using profanity and rude gestures.

Weick held up a can of pepper spray, telling Prince, “Take a step towards me, you’re gonna get it.” Weick said the slushie throwing was illegal and that she would spray Prince if she felt attacked.

The two argued on camera for a short time.

“Can you leave the slushie part out? I don’t want to go to jail,” Prince told WOOD TV’s 24 Hour News 8 before leaving the scene.

Grandville police arrived after Prince left. Weick called them before the incident because she said a teen who disagreed with her was making her uncomfortable.

Weick said she wanted to press charges against Prince.

“Truth is hate to those that hate the truth,” Weick told WOOD, “They don’t like it and they label me a hater, and it isn’t that at all. I love them enough to tell them they are on the wrong path.”

Zach Hoag eventually stood next to Weick with a sign that said “But two moms can be fabulous.”

Another man held a sign that simply said “(expletive) her.”

Weick later wrote on her Facebook page “Yes… this was my Mother’s day. The day was full of surprises too. I did not expect the media to get involved, let alone tape the attack! The young man standing next to me that was holding the (expletive) her sign actually apologized and changed the sign after a number of people scolded him. Please pray for Zack as I was able to share the Gospel with him.”

The Huffington Post reported Weick is the author of “Explain This! A Verse by Verse Explanation of the Book of Revelations.” She is a born-again Christian. In March she protested during the trial to overturn Michigan’s gay marriage ban.

Last year she was “frustrated” by the lack of support against same-sex marriage.

“There’s a hell for people who don’t repent,” Weick said, saying that same-sex marriage is the “core degredation of our society.”
