The Big Bang Theory: Leonard And Penny Finally Get Engaged

Another Big Bang Theory wedding is on the cards after Penny and Leonard finally became engaged during last night’s episode of the hugely successful sitcom.

Johnny Galecki’s loveable nerd finally landed the girl of his dreams after a seven year pursuit that has seen their romance be turned on and off more times than a faucet.

During the penultimate episode to the show’s seventh season, entitled The Gorilla Dissolution, the slightly inebriated duo returned to Penny’s apartment after a tumultuous day that had seen her fired from the film she was working on.

In the movie Penny was playing a woman who turned into an ape courtesy of a mad scientist, who was played by Big Bang Theory favorite, Wil Wheaton. After she asked the director if she could do one more take of a certain scene the ignorant filmmaker proclaimed that no-one really cares about the movie. When Penny protested he threatened to sack her, and even though Wheaton stuck up for her the director decided to fire both of them for their insubordination.

Because of this Penny soon became disillusioned with her plight, and heavily considered quitting her career as an actress. However, it also gave her time to reflect on what’s important to her in her life, which lead her to ask Leonard to marry him.

Leonard had some reservations though as he proclaimed that she had only wanted to because she had reached the end of her tether with her dream profession, which made him feel like a runner-up prize.

Penny protested though, and she explained to Leonard, “Getting fired from that movie was the best thing that could have happened to me. I finally realized that I don’t need to be famous or have some big career to be happy.”

Intrigued by her statement, Leonard asked, “Then, what do you need?” Penny declared that all she needed was him, and Leonard then decided that in that case he would get married to her.

Rather than being overjoyed at their impending nuptials though, the pair were a tad perturbed by the fact that their engagement hadn’t been that dramatic. Leonard soon appeased these qualms though by pulling out an engagement ring that he admitted he had been carrying around for the last “couple of years.”

He then got down on one knee and asked, “Penny, will you marry me?” To which she responded, “Oh my God, yes!”

Now the question on every Big Bang Theory fan’s lips is, will they have their ceremony during next week’s season finale?
