‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ Adds Michelle Forbes To Star Squad 451

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay has another late addition to its cast with actress Michelle Forbes, who has been officially announced as Lieutenant Jackson, second in command to Boggs in Star Squad 451. Back in March, it had been rumored that Forbes was to play Jackson, but the studio had yet to confirm.

Today, Lionsgate announced via The Hunger Games’ movie page on Facebook that Forbes will be in Mockingjay: Part 2. In Mockingjay, Jackson is a sniper assigned to Katniss’ Star Squad 451 when President Coin sends Katniss to the Capitol along with her camera crew comprised of Cressida and Messalla. Jackson is the soldier who invents the game of “Real or Not Real” for Peeta to help keep him grounded in reality.

Michelle is likely a familiar face to many fans of television shows such as True Blood or Battlestar Galactica. Forbes played Maryann in Season 2 of HBO’s vampire show and played the hardass commander of the Battlestar Pegasus, Admiral Cain, in SyFy’s movie Battlestar Galactica: Razor.

Production for the final film in The Hunger Games franchise recently wrapped in Atlanta and cast members have been spotted in Paris, where the next round of filming is set to begin soon. Star Liam Hemsworth, who plays Mockingjay’s Gale Hawthorne, was spotted in Paris yesterday.

Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Katniss Everdeen, was a no-show at last night’s Met Gala, presumably because she had to report to the set as well.

Forbes isn’t the only late addition to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, as actress Gwendoline Christie was added to the cast list just last month. Christie was brought in to replace actress Lily Rabe, who had been cast in Mockingjay last year, but had to bow out due to a scheduling conflict.

After filming in Paris, Mockingjay production will move to Berlin, where it is reported that they will be filming at the old Templehof airport. A recent casting call in Berlin drew thousands of would-be extras eager to be a part of The Hunger Games, even though there has been no confirmation this was the film in question. Production is expected to wrap in early summer.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is set to arrive in theaters later this year on November 21, 2014.

In February, the franchise suffered a blow when actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who played Plutarch Heavensbee, died of an apparent drug overdose in his apartment in New York. Despite rumors that the release date would be pushed back, it was later revealed that Hoffman had filmed all but one crucial scene, and the film would be released as originally scheduled.
