Grandmother Admits to Smoking Weed, Snorting Cocaine While Babysitting: 3-Month-Old Grandson Tests Positive For PCP

When you envision visiting grandma’s house, PCP and cocaine definitely aren’t the first things that come to mind. However, its exactly what one 3-month-old baby boy was exposed to.

According to News 92FM, the baby’s grandmother, Stephania McKinney, has been arrested and charged with one felony count of child endangerment. According to police documents, the incident took place on March 27 in Houston, TX. McKinney was reportedly babysitting her newborn grandson while the baby’s mother worked a night shift.

However, the visit was short-lived, as McKinney reportedly contacted the child’s mother the very next day explaining that he was “not acting normal.” The police report described the baby as “limp and nonresponsive.”

The baby was immediately rushed to the emergency room at local hospital. Doctors revealed that the baby tested positive for Phencyclidine (PCP). For those who aren’t aware of what PCP is, the street terminology for the chemical drug is “angel dust.”

Investigators stated that the doctor asked McKinney if she had been using drugs while caring for the child. McKinney initially denied her actions, but later stated otherwise during a police interview. She admitted to police officials that she had, indeed, smoked marijuana with a group of local homeless people. She went on to express that she was uncertain of whether or not the marijuana cigarette had been laced with any amount of PCP. But, that’s not all. She also admitted to snorting cocaine on the previous day while caring for the child.

So, its probably safe to say that she was in no condition to take care of the child even if he hadn’t been rushed to the hospital. She went on to share her perspective of the incident, which sheds light on how she probably contaminated the baby.

She explained that she’d bit the nipple of the baby’s bottle to make the hole bigger so the formula would flow easier. stating that she wasn’t aware she could contaminate the baby. McKinney also admitted that she’d had the baby’s pacifier in her mouth before giving it to him. She could have possibly still had drugs in her mouth at that particular time. However, she openly stated that she didn’t think she was doing anything wrong.

Luckily, doctors were able to treat the baby and he survived the ordeal. McKinney was arrested and her bail was set at $10,000.
