Fans can watch the Real Madrid vs. Valencia match live online in La Liga action this Sunday, May 4.
The UEFA Champions League finalists, will now turn their attention to a fight for the leadership in the Spanish league and an attempt to catch up to Atlético Madrid, their rival in the Euorpean tournament’s final.
Real Madrid (82) is currently in third place, six points behind the leaders, Atlético (88), and two points back from Barcelona (84) and Lionel Messi.
The good news is that Cristiano Ronaldo returned and is as fit as always, if his two goals in the 4-0 Bayern Munich demolition are any indication. The Portuguese striker was suffering from a knee and hamstring injury, which sidelined him for four matches, but he returned (some of the match) for the first-leg of the UCL semis at the Bernabeu, where he was scoreless.
For the second-leg, this past Tuesday Ronaldo was 100 percent for manager Carlo Ancelotti and helped Real Madrid put the final nail in Pep Guardiola’s dreams of defeating “Los Blancos” and reaching the final to defend their title.
Valencia is not at the same level as Real Madrid and currently in eighth place in La Liga, so it should be a fairly easy affair, however, at this time in the season, with only a few games left to play, the upset is what the weaker teams are looking for and it’s always a danger.
Real Madrid’s counter-attack made a comeback in the UCL semifinals, after some weaker performances in La Liga, which landed them off the top of the table, which they will attempt to correct.
Atlético plays earlier in the day, before fans can watch the Real Madrid vs. Valencia match and if they win, as is expected, Aneclotti and his men could find themselves nine points behind by kick-off time at 2 pm/ET.
But with Ronaldo and Bale (who was suffering from the flu for the UCL first-leg) healthy, joining the very talented Benzema in the attack, Real Madrid appears to be unstoppable.
There are only four matches left to play for Real Madrid in La Liga and Ancelotti is mindful that regaining the top position is an enormous challenge, but he is not giving up just yet:
