Sophia Loren Gives A Human Voice To Cannes [Video]

At 79, Sophia Loren is just as classy and beautiful as she ever has been. As information was released about the 67th Cannes Film Festival, it was revealed that Sophia Loren is the Guest of Honor of Cannes Classics this year. Cannes Classics is a selection of great classic films that have been “newly restored, giving the current generation of moviegoers a chance to look back at the movies that likely inspired many Cannes filmmakers” per Indiewire.com.

Loren’s association with Cannes goes as far back as 1961 when Loren won the Best Actress Award for her performance in Two Women as reported by Deadline.com. Loren was also president of the jury in 1966. This year, in addition to the screening of her 1964 film, Marriage Italian Style, Loren will be featured in the 25 minute film Human Voice which was directed by Loren’s son, Edoardo Ponti.

Sophia’s new film is based on one-woman play written in the ’30s by Jean Cocteau. This is a role that Sophia has wanted to play for many years as the woman scorned. Sophia Loren has also accepted the offer to host a masterclass at the festival.
