Mid Range Handset, Lenovo S860 Comes To India For Rs. 21,500 (USD 354)!

Chinese hardware maker Lenovo has bought its new mid-range Android powered handset to India. Called the Lenovo S860, this one is a large screened phablet sized device with a 5.3-inch display. The launch of the Lenovo S860 comes a few weeks after the company also launched the A526 and the S660 in India. Here is a quick look at the features and specifications of this device.

Display, Looks

The Lenovo S860 as mentioned earlier gets a 5.3 inch display which nearly takes it into phablet territory. The resolution is 1280*720 pixels which is not much but having used the Galaxy Note 3 Neo for a while, I can vouch for it being quite pleasing to the eye. The phone gets a brushed-metal unibody exterior and is durable to scratches and is not a fingerprint magnet.

Hardware

Powering the Lenovo S860 is a 1.3GHz quad-core processor coupled with 2GB RAM. The chipset used in the phone is a Mediatek MTK 6582. There is 16 GB of on board storage space which you cannot seem to expand further using micro SD cards. The Lenovo S860 is powered by a large 4000 mAH battery for all-day productivity. The large battery on the Lenovo S860 endows it with a talk time of 43 hours! The on board GPU for gaming and video playback capabilities is a Mali 400.

Camera

Taking care of imaging on the Lenovo S860 is an 8 megapixel shooter that gets auto focus as well. The front camera is a 1.5 megapixel fixed focus unit. The main camera can also capture videos in full HD.

Software

The Lenovo S860 packs in runs a customized version of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean at launch. It is unclear at this stage if the device would get an eventual upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat. The Lenovo S860 also comes preloaded with Premium DOit Apps that lets users transfer data to friends, speed up their device, and sync your contacts seamlessly. The S860 is also the first device to come with the new Lenovo Power 2.0 application that helps uses optimize the battery usage and get maximum life on a single charge.

Connectivity

On the connectivity front, like most other mid rangers in its price range, the Lenovo S860 too packs in a decent punch. The handset is a dual SIM capable phone and supports 3G and EDGE networks. There is full support for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi as well as for USB on the go. Apart from all these, the Lenovo S860 also supports GPS for your navigational requirements.

Pricing and Availability

The Lenovo S860 has been priced at Rs.21,500 (USD 354) which puts it firmly in the group of a crowded mid-range arena of handsets.
