Justin Timberlake Leaves Huge $4000 Tip To Delighted Servers

Servers either love or hate waiting on big shots. Justin Timberlake’s generous tip recently in a German bar has earned him high marks as one that servers love after leaving almost $4,000 for the group of waitresses that served him and his crew.

Timberlake and his entourage of 25 were invited for free drinks at the Crystal Cologne Club in Germany after performing for two nights in the city of Cologne on the 20/20 Experience tour. They reportedly had a great time and partied until after 4 am.

The venue’s reward could have been the privilege of the owner saying, “Justin Timberlake and his band partied all night long here.” But according Britain’s Sun, owner Yunus Arslan reported that, “He was in a great mood, a real gentleman.” And Justin topped the night off with a very generous tip to thank those who worked hard to make their celebration a success.

Nina Blum was one of the servers who waited on the crew throughout the night. To say that she was thrilled with Justin Timberlake’s gratuity would be an understatement. “We were all really amazed.”

This is not the first time that Justin Timberlake has made a server’s day and made headlines for it. In August 2013, Timberlake and four friends dined at Phillips Seafood in Baltimore, and the star left server Masha Keith a $100 tip on a $300 tab. Nice.

There is no doubt that Justin Timberlake brings in the big bucks and can afford to be generous, but in no way does that guarantee good tips for staff. Oddee comments about celebrities that “either they are huge tippers or notoriously stingy.” VIPS and self-important people can be extremely demanding, rude, and disrespectful to those who wait on them. Or they can be class acts like Justin Timberlake and treat servers with respect.

The minimum wage for servers in the United States is still only $2.13 per hour. Waiters and waitresses depend on tips to make a living, and they usually work very hard to do so. A dirty secret in the industry is that sometimes servers actually have to pay for the privilege of waiting on some people. They often are required to “tip-out” to hosts, bartenders, and bussers, based on a percentage of all food and beverages sold. If a customer “stiffs” them (doesn’t tip), then the work done actually costs the server.

What keeps them working is the fact that the good tends to outweigh the bad, and every once in a while, perhaps once in a career, a super customer comes in like Justin Timberlake, who makes all the hard work worthwhile.
