Bungie Aerospace revealed (Sorry, it’s not a game)

I’m sure I wasn’t alone in hoping whatever that whole ‘Bungie Aerospace’ thing Bungie has been teasing for the past several months was their first game. Well, apparently it isn’t. While it isn’t Bungie’s next title, what Bungie Aerospace actually turned out to be is still rather exciting.

Bungie Aerospace is a new initiative to assist indie developers in developing social and mobile games. Beyond offering their creative assistance to indie devs, they’ll also be lending a hand in publicizing the games, even giving the developers access to the Bungie.net platform.

“Bungie has always been passionate about making and playing great games, regardless of platform,” said Bungie COO Pete Parsons. “Bungie Aerospace will allow us to explore game creation in multiple formats with some amazingly talented teams. Now that we’ve returned to our roots as an independent studio, we are in a position to launch Bungie Aerospace to support, foster, and elevate like-minded, independent developers.”

The first title to come out of the Bungie Aerospace initiative is Crimson from Seattle-based developer Harebrained Schemes. It’s expected out on iOS and Android devices sometime this summer.
