Here’s Ten Minutes of Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Footage

At first I was a little worried about Ace Combat: Assault Horizon‘s apparent departure from the Ace Combat series. Rather than taking the path of simulation-style dogfighting, Assault Horizon instead opts for oil-splattering violence and fast-paced cinematic action. Now that I’ve seen the following video, I think I may have lost my reason to worry.

The video starts off with the game’s tutorial. While you might expect a tutorial to be light on the action, this one actually starts you off with it, getting players familiar with the game’s controls in-between skirmishes. It all wraps up with the pilot being forced to eject from his plane, after which point he’s left dangling helplessly from his parachute as jets battle it out all around him. In other words, there’s plenty of cinematic action to take in.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is due out October 11 in North America for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. See below for the tutorial gameplay video.
