Selena Gomez has officially signed with new representation, after releasing her mother and step-father from their managerial roles early last month.
But you can forget gossip about her signing with back-on boyfriend Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun, or Kardashian clan matriarch Kris Jenner.
The trade explains Selena’s big move is part of a long term strategy to evolve her music and movie careers in a more adult direction.
In addition to other bold moves such terminating her professional deal with her parents and moving into a new house in Calabasas, Calif., the Disney alum reportedly intends to build on her post-Wizards of Waverly roles in Spring Breakers, Getaway, and Rudderless.
Music-wise, Selena’s contract with Disney’s Hollywood Records is rumored to have ended.
The 21-year-old debuted atop the Billboard 200 album chart last summer with Stars Dance riding her triple-platinum lead single “Come & Get It,” but there has been no new output after second single “Slow Down” last August.
Since then, Gomez voluntarily spent a short time in rehab back in January — allegedly over difficulties “letting go” of her relationship with Bieber — which she has now resumed, amid ceaseless and often ridiculous tabloid rumors.
Over the last two months, Bieber and Gomez have been spotted in Texas, Miami, Coachella Festival, and are now together in Los Angeles, and the couple have recorded a duet although there is no word on when — or if — it will be released.
Fans of the Latina will be glad to hear her radio silence is about to break.
According to TV and radio host Ryan Seacrest, Gomez has a provocative new song and music video on the way that may be about her on-again, off-again relationship with Bieber.
The news comes after Selena teased risque imagery of herself on Instagram last month along with the caption: “Secret project.”
During his recent radio show Seacrest said of Gomez’s upcoming release,
“I saw Selena the other night and she’s got a big new song coming out and a really cool video she shot.” He added, “The video’s interesting. I don’t want to tell you too much before it’s officially done and this is the one that she’s gonna release.”
Then, hinting at a Gomez-Bieber musical exposé, he continued:
“But the video will get people talking about whether or not it’s about she and Justin, that’s for sure. I watched it, and I looked at her, and I listened to the lyrics, and I’m like: ‘Okay. This is gonna have people talking and wondering!’ ”
