South Korea Ferry: Trapped Passengers Send Heartbreaking Texts On Doomed Vessel

Passengers trapped on the stricken South Korea ferry that began to sink on Tuesday have been sending text messages to their loved ones.

The Los Angeles Times have reported that a high school student sent a heartbreaking text message to his mother. The message read: “Mom, this might be my last chance to tell you I love you.”

The mother messaged back declaring her own love, which stated, “Me too son. I love you.” She then followed this with three heart symbols. However, she has yet to receive a response from her missing loved-one. A screen-grab of the emotional exchange has since been uploaded to a Korean website.

News of another text message has since emerged too, which allegedly saw a student text his father to inform him of his dire situation. “Dad, I can’t walk out because the ship is tilted too much,” he declared, “and I don’t see anyone in the corridor.”

Korean officials confirmed on Wednesday that four passengers had died, 55 were injured, while there are still about 280 individuals missing. It’s also been revealed that most of those missing are high school students who were making the journey as part of a school trip.

It’s believed that the chances of finding those missing alive is now very minimal. They were heading for the island of Jeju when the tragedy occurred at around 9 am local time.

One student, Lim Hyung-min, who survived the incident, has since been discussing his ordeal with the local broadcaster, YTN. Lim revealed that he had to jump into the ocean wearing a life jacket, before he then swam to a rescue boat.

“As the ferry was shaking and tilting, we all tripped and bumped into each other,” Lim explained, before he proclaimed that various individuals were bleeding excessively after they crashed into each other because of the rocky conditions.

Lim added that once he had jumped into the water, the ocean “was so cold… I was hurrying, thinking that I wanted to live.”

Young-Ja Shin, another passenger who was rescued, exclaimed, “The ship bean tilting all of a sudden, and then people started skidding down from above. There was a railing, so I held onto it, but I then got hit by one of the falling people and we got pushed down to the bottom”

A father, whose son has yet to be found, was so emotional that he admitted, “It is as if the world is falling part. I really want to go now to see my son.”
