Charlize Theron Will Work With Sean Penn On New Film

Charlize Theron, 38, will be working on a new film with boyfriend, Sean Penn, 53, reports E! Online.

The upcoming film is titled, The Last Face. Penn will be directing the film, while Theron stars in it. The African drama will also star Javier Bardem.

The film is also in the process of getting the go-ahead from River Road and Bill Pohland, with Bill Gerber and Matt Palmieri producing as well, according to Deadline: Hollywood. Adèle Exarchopoulos is also up for taking part in The Last Face. She is expected to play a journalist.

In the film Theron will characterize a doctor doing humanitarian relief work in Africa, more specifically in Sudan and Liberia, while violent political conflicts erupt in the region. Theron’s character meets another doctor, portrayed by Bardem, who is doing similar work.

The plot of The Last Face revolves around moral decisions that must be made in a time of civil unrest. Think that is enough to have to deal with? Apparently it is not enough because Bardem’s character is also forced to choose between his love for Theron’s character and his dedication to his work.

The film was originally written by Erin Dignam, who played a big part in Penn’s 1995 film, The Crossing Guard. Her other writing credits include The Yellow Handkerchief starring William Hurt, Maria Bello and Kristen Stewart.

Although Theron and Penn have been dating for a while, wedding bells are not yet ringing for the pair. Theron and Penn made their relationship official in January, according to WebProNews. Since then, Theron has been seen out at Penn’s Help Haiti Home gala, during a holiday trip to his beachfront home in Hawaii, and on Valentine’s Day in Cabo San Lucas.

Theron has an adopted son named Jackson, while Penn has two children with Robin Wright, aged 18 and 23.

The Last Face will bring Theron home, as she is from South Africa.
