Emma Watson, 23, the Harry Potter alum and current Noah star, is ready to face another milestone in her life: graduating from Brown university. Apparently Emma wants to throw a big, Mexican themed bash for graduation, which we’ve heard may include a “tequila drinking” contest? “I’m going to celebrate like everyone else: having a party, being around friends and family and just having a good time.” Sounds like a ball, Emma!
This time last year, Emma was having another Mexican-themed party for her 23rd birthday. (Emma turns 24 tomorrow, on the 15th, so happy early birthday, Emma!) Last year, friends made Watson 23 paper-mache models – one for each year. Each mache model reflected something different and unique from Emma’s life, whether it be from Potter or a Chanel ad. “Emma was gobsmacked when she arrived at the party to see all the piñatas. There was everything from her as a child, and as Hermione in the Harry Potter films, to her in the Chanel advert a couple of years ago,” says a pal.

Emma must be thrilled to finally be finishing at Brown; the actress enrolled back in 2009 and took numerous breaks for filming and to spend a year studying in Oxford. But she was determined and focused on getting her degree. “After Harry Potter, all that mattered was university,” Emma says. “It wasn’t always easy to break down barriers, as having men from the British press following me with cameras didn’t help my mission to integrate.”
Emma is also embarrassingly ready to stop being recognized on Brown campus. “On the first day, I walked into the canteen and everyone went completely silent and turned around to look at me. I had to say to myself ‘it’s OK, you can do this’. You just have to take a deep breath and gather your courage.”
The young actress seems ready to take on whatever’s next in her life, whether it be performing in bizarre web videos where Emma turns into Sophia Vergara, or simply growing old. “I’m excited about the aging process,” Emma says when asked about all the airbrushing of young women her age in efforts to capture youth and ideal beauty. “I’m more interested in women who aren’t perfect. They’re more compelling.”
After Emma’s tequila-infused grad bash, you can see her in The Queen of Tearlings, an epic fantasy adaptation of a novel by Erika Johansen, or in the anticipated Regression opposite Ethan Hawke. Here’s to the soon college graduate and soon 24-year-old-Emma!
