Real Madrid Vs. Bayern Munich In UEFA Champions League Semifinal Draw [Video]

Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich — the defending champ — is one of the UEFA Champions League semifinals for 2014, with Chelsea vs. Atletico Madrid facing off in the second one.

The first leg of the semifinal matches will take place on April 22-23 at the Santiago Bernabeu, with the second leg on April 29-30 played at the Allianz Arena as determined by the Friday draws.

Real Madrid had a narrow escape when it lost 2-0 to Dortmund on Tuesday, however they were able to qualify for the semis on the aggregate.

“Los Blancos” are currently in third place in La Liga while FC Bayern Munich holds the first place in the Fußball-Bundesliga.

The winner of the Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich match will play at home in the UEFA Champions League final in Lisbon.

And there’s always the possibility that it will be an all Spanish final between Real Madrid and Atletico, if they manage to defeat Bayern Munich and Chelsea, who miraculously escaped a defeat after finding themselves down 3-1 against Paris St. Germain on Tuesday.

Bayern Munich could have a hat trick of Premier League teams after taking out Arsenal in the last 16 and Manchester United in the quarter-finals.

The last time Real Madrid and Bayern Munich met was in 2012. Back then the Bundesliga club won, moving on to the final only to lose by penalties against Chelsea at home. The time for payback is here.

Altogether the Spanish club has met the German giants five times, with Bayern holding the lead with four victories.

The match holds especial significance for Real Madrid who are on a quest to win the club’s 10th UEFA Champions League title, while everyone else is trying to prevent them from raising the UEFA trophy once more.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men have enjoyed one heck of a season, however, after their main star, Cristiano Ronaldo suffered an injury to his left hamstring on Wednesday, things are not looking so certain for the winningest team in league history. It would be the sixth time for Bayern.

Social media is abuzz with the announcement of the UEFA Champions League semifinals of Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich and Chelsea vs. Atletico Madrid. Who are you cheering for?
