‘Fast & Furious Supercharged’ To Be A Ride At Universal Studios By 2015

Fast And Furious the mega franchise about street car racing is about to get its own ride at Universal Studios in Hollywood, California.

The new attraction will be called “Fast and Furious Supercharged” and it will debut in 2015 according to an announcement made by the franchise’s Twitter account on Wednesday.

Comcast — which has had control of NBCUniversal since 2011 — which has revamped the park with the likes of Harry Potter and Despicable Me, expects to complete the project by 2016.

The company’s main goal is to attract young visitors and keep them coming back for more, but they also have to keep the adults entertained and Fast and Furious Supercharged is definitely geared towards that goal.

Larry Kurzweil, president of Universal Studios Hollywood said:

“We’re trying to significantly broaden our base. This isn’t about adding rides. It’s about a complete transformation.”

According to the New York Times, “Fast and Furious Supercharged” will be a “hybrid movie and thrill ride in which occupants of Universal’s famed back-lot trams will be encircled by 400-foot-long movie screens.”

“We’re going to make it feel like those trams are being pulled through the streets at speeds of over 100 miles per hour.” added Chick Russell, executive producer for Universal Creative.

Here is an official description of what you can expect when you visit the new attraction:

“‘Fast and Furious – Supercharged’ will be a pulse-pounding, adrenaline-fueled finale to the world-famous Studio Tour. This technologically advanced thrill ride will catapult guests into the high-stakes underground world of fast cars where they’ll join the cast in a harrowing escapade. The ride will be situated within a newly constructed 50,000 square foot building on the legendary backlot and will reunite stars from the Fast And Furious series in a groundbreaking mega attraction.”

Fans of the Fast & Furious franchise seem to be excited from the comments shared on Twitter:

Fast And Furious was established in 2001 and has become Universal Studios most successful franchise, with sales topping $2.3 billion as of October 2013, following its sixth installment.

Unfortunately, on November 30, 2013 one of the franchise’s main stars, Paul Walker, was killed in a fiery crash in California, while the cast was taking a break for Thanksgiving. Fast And Furious 7 will pay tribute to the fallen star when the last installment opens in theaters on April 10, 2015.
