Nigella Lawson Banned From Entering US, Friends Blame Charles Saatchi

Nigella Lawson was recently banned from entering the US due to a drug confession she made in court last year.

The “domestic goddess” was attempting to board a flight to Los Angeles when officials reportedly turned her away. Although she didn’t face charges in the UK after admitting she used cocaine, apparently officials in the United States are using this as an excuse to keep her out of the country.

According to the Daily Mail, Nigella Lawson was turned away from her flight to Los Angeles at Heathrow Airport last week. However, details about the situation are sketchy at best. While reports indicate that her drug admission resulted in the barring, US officials have yet to comment on the Lawson situation as of this writing.

“She didn’t seem to say much, but she did not look happy. She could not get on the flight so she had to turn around and leave,” a witness told the outlet.

However, there are a few rumors about the situation making the rounds online. The New York Daily News points out that Nigella Lawson’s friends believe ex-husband Charles Saatchi is to blame for the fiasco.

“Her friends are absolutely convinced there was something more to this. The view is that someone, perhaps her ex-husband had tipped off the US authorities,” a source close to Lawson recently explained to the Sunday People.

The insider continued, “Nigella has said several times that she believes Saatchi is out to ruin her. Clearly she puts nothing past him. This is a dreadful situation, she feels she will never get away from him.”

Saatchi, who reportedly has close ties to the US Ambassador in London, ended his relationship with Nigella last year after 10 years of marriage. Sources believe that Charles is responsible for letting authorities know about his ex-wife’s drug confession.

Cinema Blend points out that Nigella Lawson admitted to using cocaine during her testimony against her former housekeepers, individuals who allegedly stole items from Saatchi. During her court appearance, Lawson admitted that she started using cocaine to help cope with the death of her first husband.

While the The US Department of Homeland Security couldn’t officially comment on the matter, a spokesperson claimed that folks who have admitted to drug offenses are often classified as “inadmissible” by customs.

“In general, an alien found inadmissible will need a waiver of inadmissibility. Depending on the basis of their refusal they may be eligible to apply in advance of travel for a temporary waiver of inadmissibility. The waiver application process can be lengthy,” the rep explained.

It’s believed that Nigella Lawson will consult with her legal team to figure out what to do about the situation. As of this writing, the “domestic goddess” is still banned from entering the US.
