New Video Game Releases For The Week Of April 6, 2014
The new video game releases for the week of April 6, 2014 includes the return of a once beloved baseball game, a Disney Animal Crossing meets theme park game for the 3DS, and more LEGO shenanigans with hobbits.
The biggest title gracing our new video game release list is undoubtedly Titanfall for the Xbox 360. With an oft delayed release date that sees the game dropping on April 8th, developers of the Xbox 360 port, Bluepoint Games, have stated on their site, “Titanfall on the Xbox 360 is the true experience: all the maps, modes, pilots, titans, weapons, burn cards, you name it, found in the Xbox One and PC versions,” said Daryl Allison, senior producer at Bluepoint. “The game looks great, sounds great, and above all it plays great.” With a frame rate of just over 30fps, the game promises to be on the same level as its next-gen release which we will be able to decide for ourselves this Tuesday.
R.B.I. Baseball is also making a return after almost 10 years absent. The original series debuted in 1986 in Japan as Family Stadium for the Family Computer (Famicom), the Japanese version of the Nintendo Entertainment System. The game was ported by Tengen, the home console division of Atari Corporation, for the NES in 1988 where it found a strong following. This new version is not meant to compete with Sony’s well rated MLB: The Show series as it returns to a simpler form of gameplay. For Xbox 360 and One owners, it will be the only baseball game for a while with the demise of MLB 2k. While only the Xbox 360 version has appeared online, no confirmation has been given yet if all platforms will get a release this Tuesday.
Other notable new video game releases for the week of April 6 include LEGO: The Hobbit which is the 22nd game in the LEGO video game series including spin offs, hand held variants and other games. It will tell the story of the first two The Hobbit movies with the 3rd movie’s content coming as DLC later on. The Wolf Among Us also receives its 3rd chapter in its Fables comic adaptation.
