‘Expendables 3’ Releases Roll-Call Trailer [VIDEO]

With blockbuster movie season approaching, it is no surprise film companies would release their latest movie trailers. One such movie is Expendables 3, and it looks like they want to do a roll-call.

Originally released on Yahoo Movies, the latest trailer showcases all the action stars who will be starring in Expendables 3. The trailer does boldly announce that Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), and his team are back for “One Last Ride”. If this is a movie where the “Expendables” are going out, they are going out with numerous explosions and debris left in their wake. Also, Expendables 3 brings back some familiar faces, but also introduces some new ones too – which are also familiar.

First, Expendables 3 brings back most of the old cast from previous movies. Along with Stallone, Jason Statham (Lee Christmas), Jet Li (Yin Yang), Dolph Lundgren (Gunner Jensen), Randy Couture (Toll Road), Terry Crews (Hale Caesar), and Arnold Schwarzenegger (Trench Mauser) return.

What everyone is looking forward to are the newest faces to join the franchise. First, MMA stars Ronda Rousey (Luna) and Victor Ortiz (Mars) are in the movie. Also, the inclusion of Kelsey Grammer (Bonaparte), Kellan Lutz (John Smilee), Antonio Banderas (Galgo), and Wesley Snipes (Doc) add fuel to the Expendable 3 fan fire.

It’s the next two new Expendables 3 actors that are getting the most attention. First is Harrison Ford as Max Drummer. In the movie, he is an authority figure who manages the Expendables. We also get to see Ford pilot a helicopter, which is something he can do in real life. Mel Gibson will serve as the primary villain, Conrad Stonebanks. He is a ruthless arms dealer and the co-founder of the Expendables. This means he has ties to Barney Ross.

In short, the new trailer is a marketing scheme to showcase the expanding cast, as stated in Forbes. According to the article, Expendables 3 is part of a franchise which is considered “added value element”. What that means is the more sequels are made, the more value is added to it, simply by introducing brand new characters through casting actors. This writer personally hopes the real villain in this film is Jackie Chan, and there is a fight scene when he takes on all the Expendables at the same time, and beats them all up.

Expendables 3 is still a ways until its official release and will hit the box office, late in the movie season, on August 15, 2014.
