NFL Report: DeSean Jackson, Washington Redskins Close To Deal

DeSean Jackson may have a new home very shortly. According to multiple reports, including an article on ESPN.com, DeSean Jackson and the Washington Redskins are a virtually lock to finalize a new deal that would bring the controversial wide receiver into the fold, pairing him up with Robert Griffin III who is in strong favor of the deal.

“Jackson arrived in northern Virginia on Monday night and dined with members of the Redskins coaching staff, including coach Jay Gruden. He later went to a club with current Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall and wide receiver Pierre Garcon. Both players have publicly stated their desire for Jackson to join the Redskins, as has quarterback Robert Griffin III.”

In fact, Griffin openly lobbied for DeSean’s services, telling ESPN.com:

“Very exciting player. Determined to show he is the best and hungry to win. My kinda guy,”

Jackson’s visit with the Redskins was his one and only since being let go from the Philadelphia Eagles among concerns that Jackson was affiliated with gangs in his home state of California. And while the Oakland Raiders and New York Jets appeared to be the front runners to land Jackson’s services, as previously reported by Inquisitr, it now appears likely that the Redskins will acquire DeSean Jackson instead.

According to SI.com, Jackson is reportedly seeking a deal somewhere in the $9 to $10 million dollar range, approximate to the $10 million dollar deal he had signed with the Eagles prior to being released:

“According to Chris Russell of ESPN 980, a source says Jackson is searching for a deal that will pay him in the $9 million to $10 million a year range. While that is a lot to demand, it is still technically a pay cut for Jackson, who was set to count $12.75 million against the cap in Philadelphia before being cut loose.”

And while SI.com is also reporting that DeSean Jackson to Washington Redskins is a “done deal” there is a conflicting report that the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers are making a strong push to sign Jackson as well. According to ‘s Twitter feed, Jackson could end up with either club:

Where do you think DeSean Jackson should sign with? The Washington Redskins, San Francisco 49ers or Cleveland Browns?
