Shailene Woodley Forced To Get Cell To Promote ‘Divergent’

Shailene Woodley’s life has been quite the whirlwind lately, ever since her latest film Divergent made its debut in the US on March 21.

Now, for the occasion in London, the 22-year-old — who is being dubbed “the next Jennifer Lawrence” — was seen wearing a daring gown at the European premiere of the film — the first of the trilogy — based on the book of the same name by Veronica Ross.

Woodley, who is not known for her glamour, was seen wearing a daring Stella McCartney dress, looking very comfortable showing off her great body and her short bob.

For Shailene the last few weeks promoting Divergent must seem a blur, as her fame has reached incredible heights following a successful opening in the US.

Now, we will have to see if the same happens across the Pond and audiences flock to the cinema to watch Woodley (Tris) and handsome co-star Theo James, who plays the tough Four in Divergent.

This may just be the year of Shailene Woodley, who goes from fighting for her life with weapons to doing it with drugs, when she stars in the upcoming adaptation The Fault In Our Stars, the story of a cancer stricken teen, who discovers true love in the process of fighting the deadly disease.

Shailene is not your conventional movie star and also doesn’t mind speaking her mind about any variety of issues, from the very personal to the mundane. Perhaps this is one of the reasons the is being compared to Jennifer Lawrence, another star that doesn’t fit the mold. Refreshing.

Shailene Woodley has made it clear she does not like technology and got rid of her cell phone and social media, but she had to make an exception during promotion time:

“This month, I’ve had a cell phone because Lionsgate during press for Divergent has been like, ‘We need to get a hold of you, here’s a phone.’ But, I don’t have a personal one.”

“Getting rid of Instagram for me was huge [and] my phone in general. I got to know me again and I got to wake up and be like, ‘What do I want to do today?’ I don’t have a device to be like, what should I do today? It was like, what do I want to do today?”

You can see Shailene Woodley in action alongside Theo James, Kate Winslet, and Ashley Judd in Divergent, now playing in theaters.
