Nikki Reed And Husband Will Finish Album Post-Split

Twilight star Nikki Reed made her first public outing on Saturday following the announcement that she’d split from her husband, American Idol musician Paul McDonald. The two have been married for almost three years.

According to People magazine, a statement obtained from the spokesperson for 25 year-old Nikki said the split between Reed and her husband was amicable.

“After much consideration, Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald are ending their marriage,” said the statement from the representative for Reed. “They have been living separately for the past six months due to work obligations.”

Nikki was photographed without her wedding ring on as she stepped out on Saturday for a workout in Los Angeles.

Reed has appeared on television and the big screen, and has worked behind the scenes as well as a screenwriter. She has also worked as a singer-songwriter and a model. She gained fame in 2003 for the film Thirteen, which she co-wrote with Catherine Hardwicke, who also directed.

Other film credits on Reed’s resume include Lords of Dogtown and Mini’s First Time. Nikki went on to play Rosalie Hale in the Twilight saga.

The split between Reed and her husband has been coming for a while. According to a report from TMZ.com, Nikki and McDonald have been drifting apart for some time.

The celebrity news website reports that Reed and her soon-to-be ex-husband will stay in touch, though. They are working on an album together, called “I’m Not Falling,” which will be released in 2014.

Reed’s husband is an Alabama native, and the two have collaborated on music in the past. In 2012, their song All I Ever Needed ran during the end credits of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.

Twitter had no indication of the breakup or post-breakup plans, as Nikki’s last post was prior to the announcement. Reed and her husband first met at the premiere of Red Riding Hood in 2011, and were engaged within three months.

In an interview with Us magazine two days before announcing the breakup, Reed said her marriage was based on focusing on what they love.

“We just love hanging out,” Reed told Us, calling her husband her “best friend in the world.” But she also said they had no plans to start a family.

Their musical collaboration aside, the Daily Mail reports that Reed will be keeping extremely busing in the coming weeks. The credit Nikki Reed will appear in three films showing at the Tribeca Film Festival in April.
